News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Red House Recording artists Storyhill will perform in concert at Sisters Art Works, 204 W. Adams Ave. on Saturday, November 15, at 7 p.m.
Over the course of almost 20 years, Storyhill has performed for audiences throughout the country and internationally. Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson comprise the duo of which Billboard magazine says: "Their sound recalls the harmonious interplay of Simon and Garfunkel and the acoustic juice of the Indigo Girls."
The acoustic duo brings sharp, observant songwriting together with close, brother-like harmonies. With voices reminiscent of the Everly Brothers, they create a sound both classic and completely fresh.
They released their first tape in 1989 and have performed off and on as "Chris and Jonny." They released 13 albums as a band. They built a loyal fan base and were a staple on the touring circuit throughout the West and Midwest. After a hiatus from performing together, they realized the chemistry was still there and with many new songs and experiences they decided to reform as "Storyhill."
Both are fine guitar pickers, excellent singers, but together they form a natural and unique blend of thoughtful writing and hauntingly tight harmonies.
Three years ago they started their own folk festival entitled the The Storyhill Fest, held in early July each year. They have lived for years in Bozeman, Montana, where they currently reside.
This concert will feature performances by Sisters Americana Project students. Tickets are available at the door and are $10 adults, $5 students.
