New Farmers Insurance agent offers personal touch

Jason Rybka is committed to a personal approach to insurance.

"I'm bringing the personal side back to insurance," said the new Farmers Insurance agent in Sisters. "I meet with my customers face to face. I don't sell insurance over the phone."

Rybka is operating out of a new location at 257 S. Pine St., #101. Farmers Insurance is a full-service agency, offering auto, home, life, commercial and health insurance.

The personal touch is a personal commitment for Rybka, but it's more than just his style. He believes personal contact is critical to finding the right product for a client and for determining a good fit between the client and the agency.

"I don't pick your coverage," Rybka notes. "I help a person pick their coverage."

It's important that a client fully understand their coverage, Rybka insists. Price is not the only consideration. It's possible to find cheap rates online, but it's not always clear what kind of coverage you're actually getting for your money and finding that out when you have a claim is not the best way to go.

With face to face, personal interaction, Rybka believes the client has the best shot at getting the right coverage at the right price. And better coverage can often be minimally more expensive, Rybka notes.

"The best thing to do is to start good and if you need to revise it, do that later," he said.

Rybka recently moved to Sisters from Bend with his family, which includes three young children. He switched to insurance after an 11-year career in management with Les Schwab. He loved working for Schwab, but promotion required moving around and he wanted to get settled in Central Oregon.

"I still wanted to be a small businessman, so I got into insurance," he said.

Les Schwab's vaunted customer service orientation stuck with Rybka and he is committed to providing the best service possible to his Sisters clients.

"The nice thing about Sisters people is that they come in to the office," he said. "My promise to the Sisters community is that there will always be someone in the office during business hours. There will always be someone here to service the customer."

To that end, Rybka has hired two staff members, Angela Mankinson and Debbie Stevens.
