News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Sisters salutes...

• Hats off to the folks who man the plows.

When the snow falls as hard as it's been falling in Sisters Country the past couple of weeks, clear roads become a precious commodity.

The lifelines we take for granted to drive to work, to get to the grocery store and to get out to play in the snow require constant attention - and it's a dedicated bunch who keep them plowed.

From ODOT crews on the highway to city crews inside the city limits, from county crews to local maintenance men who plow the streets of our subdivisions and road districts, we owe a huge debt of thanks to the folks who climb into their rigs and drop the blade when the temperature is 0 degrees and the night is as black as the devil's heart.

We couldn't manage without them. Thanks from all of us.
