News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The boys basketball team earned a 57-36 win on the hardwood at home against Burns on Tuesday, December 22.
Although Burns boasts a quick, scrappy team, they were no match for the Outlaws. At the close of the first quarter Sisters held a 16-8 advantage and at the half had pushed to a 27-17 lead.
At the end of the third quarter Sisters was up by 15 and Coach Jake Rothauge told his team to pick it up and put the game away. The Outlaws responded and scored on their next six possessions to go up by 25 points. Sisters held onto the lead and secured the win.
Ross Erickson led the Outlaws with 18 points, four steals and five assists. Tyler Miller contributed 12 points and Levi Rowe and Drew Harrison each pitched in for nine.
Rothauge said he was pleased with his team's performance considering the circumstances.
"It was kind of weird," said Rothauge. "It was a day game and a small crowd, and considering that I think the guys played very well, especially in the second half."
Rothauge told The Nugget he has been very impressed with how quickly the Outlaws have improved and come together as a team. Rothauge stated that one area the team has been focusing their efforts is passing the ball inside to the posts and he felt the team did that very well and credited the win to an entire team effort.
