News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Folk Festival is inviting the community to participate in a "common canvas" project for the upcoming My Own Two Hands fund-raiser.
The eighth annual My Own Two Hands celebration, the fund-raiser for the Sisters Americana Project, is scheduled for April 17-18. This year's common canvas is "Masks."
Cristina Acosta will teach a class for the common canvas on January 23 creating "something wild" for the parade through town scheduled for April 17. The workshop will run from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and will be limited to 20 participants. Registration deadline for this class is Monday, January 19.
On January 31 there will be a workshop with a variety of professional artists from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sisters High School, including mask making, piñata-type creations and forms, some inspired by the Sisters Outlaws mascot - the wild mustang. Class sizes are limited; registration deadline for this class is Monday, January 26.
All who participate in the common canvas are invited to join in and celebrate during the "Art Walk Parade" for My Own Two Hands on April 17.
The workshops are partially funded by the Round House Foundation to make it possible to provide art classes to the community.
