Sisters Act offers advertising opportunities

This year's local variety talent show, "A Sisters Act," scheduled for March 7, 2009 at Sisters High School, will offer a unique opportunity for local businesses.

Since the show is themed "A Mountain Home Companion," the audience will be in the "radio theatre" for its "broadcast." Besides the drawings that occur during set-changes, this year there will also be paid commercials.

While Powdermilk Biscuits will certainly make an appearance, it is the original commercials written for each business that should really be the fun part.

For a $20 donation that goes straight to the Masaka Orphanage in Uganda, businesses will be featured in original "spots." Contact Karly Drake-Lusby for more information or to secure one of these spots at 410-4412 or [email protected]

A funny thing happened on the way to this year's "Sisters Act - A Mountain Home Companion:"

"How do I belly dance for 'A Home Companion'?" asked Julie Cash. "Do I wear a Swedish outfit or what?!"

Turns out that the annual variety show has a theme but the acts that audition do not have to match the theme. Matching up with the theme is the fun responsibility of the show's writers.

"We want to have fun, showcase our local talent and raise money for the Masaka Orphanage in Uganda," said Chair Theresa Slavkovsky. "Submit an application for the family friendly showcase (by February 2), come audition and be a part of this terrific event and let us create the ties that bind!"
