News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Sisters salutes...

• Sisters Rotary facilitated a record number of "Shots for Tots" in the annual immunization program last month.

Fifty-eight children were immunized (average 3.5 shots per child). Some children received as many as six immunizations.

An additional 12 children were screened by the Health Department  for immunizations but were determined to not need shots at this time.

Fourteen adults were also administered free flu shots.

This is the largest Shots for Tots Clinic ever held in Sisters during the 10-year history of the program. It was a very busy day and the two nurses who administered all of the immunizations worked non-stop from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., when the clinic was closed.

Special thanks go to Sisters Coffee Co. and Sisters' McDonald's for providing coffee and lunches for the nurses and the Rotary volunteers.

• Ryan Burbank, Sisters High School class of 2008, has been named to the 2008 fall Dean's List at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.
