Concert features traveling troubadours

Two traveling singer-songwriters performed in a house concert sponsored by Harmony House in Sisters last Friday.

Beth Wood, a past winner of the Sisters Folk Festival's Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest, headlined the show, which was opened by Kristy Kruger.

Wood, who lives in Lyons, Colorado, also performed at the Sisters Folk Festival and has an appreciative local fan base.

The show was held in a temporary new location, the shop of Mike Scherrer, because the Harmony House venue at Doug and Katie Cavanaugh's home burned down in a catastrophic fire on January 22.

House concerts are private gatherings featuring touring folk artists. There is an established circuit of such concerts which includes venues in Sisters and in Bend.

While in Sisters, both songwriters visited the Americana Project class at Sisters to share insights on the life of a professional independent musician with students. The Americana Project is the educational outreach program of the Sisters Folk Festival.
