News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The girls golf team took second place in their first golf tournament of the season, which was held at Crooked River Ranch on Thursday, March 19. The Outlaws posted a score of 401, behind first-place 6A Redmond, who finished with top honors at 361.
Burns scored 468, La Pine was 532 and Madras rounded out the scoring with a 568.
Senior Emily Rawls led the Outlaws with a score of 86. Rawls shot a 47 on the front nine and came back strong to score a career back nine high of 39. Rawls finished third overall out of 23 girls.
"I was really proud of the way she (Rawls) battled back to post a great score on the back nine. She kept the ball in the fairway and putted pretty well, too," said Flande.
Shelby Ross was consistent the entire round and shot a 46 on both the front and back nine to finish with a 92. Ross finished fourth overall.
"Shelby struck the ball well all day but struggled on the green with her putting. Shelby looked more confident as the round went on. She is going to be very solid for us this season," said Flande.
Hannah Harrer and Paige Stevens made their debut in their first varsity tournament. Harrer carded a 101 for the Outlaws and had a career low on the front nine (48). Stevens scored a 61 on both the front and back nine for a score of 122.
"Both Hannah and Paige did a great job today. Hannah's short game was strong today and her chipping and putting really helped her post a very good round for the team," said Flande. "I think Paige was a little nervous at first but settled down throughout the round and started to relax and play her game."
The Lady Outlaws' next match will be at Arrowhead in Molalla on Thursday, April 9.
