Girls win track invitational, boys third

The Outlaws girls track team won its own home invitational, overwhelming the 16-team meet with 116 points.

Nathalie Tresseras won both the 1,500 (5:06) and the 3,000 (11:46) to lead the Outlaws. Courtney Satko was the only other first-place winner, capturing the 400 (1:01.83), but her teammates racked up a lot of points by placing in 15 of the 17 events.

"It was a great day for track and field," said Bob Johnson. "The kids definitely wanted to do well in front of the home crowd and they competed very well."

Cascade took second with 75 points, while Grant Union (65), Crook County (64.5), Molalla (61.5) rounded out the top five.

Other top performers for the Outlaws included Chelsea Reifschneider who finished second in the 300 hurdles (50.07) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.28), along with fellow freshman Sara Small who cleared eight feet in the pole vault to place second.

The boys were not able to keep up with 6A West Linn, which won the meet with 131.5 points. The Outlaws scored 84 points to finish third. Cascade finished second (104) while Culver took fourth (62) and Estacada fifth (48.5).

Parker Bennett picked up second places in the 1,500 (4:18.78) and the 3,000 (9:33.63) as the highest finisher of the day for the Outlaws. Taylor Steele (9:59.82) and Benton Urquhart (10:02) finished third and fourth respectively.

Drew Harrison ran a very even race in the 800 meters, finishing third in 2:07.4, while Lee Elder placed third in the 400 (53.1) as well.

"We were a little shorthanded on the boys' side due to spring break, but everyone who was there showed a lot of heart and we ended up with some good early season marks," said Johnson.

League competition continues this week with a meet at Marist Thursday, and the Elmira Relays on Saturday.
