Empty Bowls raises funds for FAN

Under the instruction of art teacher, Mike Baynes, Sisters High School ceramic students are helping the Family Access Network (FAN). They have been throwing and glazing pottery bowls all year for the Empty Bowls soup dinner.

The Empty Bowls fund-raiser will be held on Wednesday, April 29, at 6 p.m. at Sisters High School.

Community members are invited to dine on a delicious bowl of soup in a ceramic bowl they choose - and the bowl is theirs to take home. Tickets for $10 and $15 are available by calling Pinky Pagano at Sisters High School, 549-4045.

The soup, chicken noodle or vegetable, along with garlic bread, lemonade, and dessert will be served by high school leadership and art students. Music will be provided by students, along with a presentation on the FAN program.

The event concept of fighting hunger comes from a program launched by art teachers in Michigan. The program is to help combat hunger and help families facing crisis situations. With this in mind, proceeds from the event will be used for the Sisters FAN program.

For more information on the FAN program, call the FAN office at 549-0155.
