The Outlaws track teams got a break in the competitive schedule last week with just a three way meet at La Pine and both the boys and girls teams remained unbeaten against Sky-Em foes heading in to the final three weeks of the season.
Elmira and the host Hawks were no match for the Outlaws, even as athletes moved out of their specialty events as a way of training through the meet, according to coach Bob Johnson.
"We had a rigorous week of practice, so for the most part we used the meet at La Pine as part of our training and we still came up with some great performances," he said.
The girls overwhelmed the other two teams, piling up 107 point, while La Pine finished with 67 and Elmira ended up with 26. Annie Mutchler did her part of pad the Outlaw victory as she won the triple jump (32 feet 3 inches), placed second in a photo finish 100 meters (13.2) and took part in both winning relays.
Joining Mutchler in the 400 relay was Karah Herr, Sarah Small, and Cindy Steele, who each did their own share of scoring as well. Herr won both the 800 (2:31.2) and the 300 hurdles (48.6) and contributed to the winning 1,600 meter relay along with Emi Conrads and Hayley Palmer (4:30.5).
Steele won the 200 meters (28.3), and placed third in the 100 (13.6), while Small cleared 9 feet 6 inches to win the pole vault and finished behind Steele in the 200 (29.0). Other winners for the Outlaws included Courteney Satko in the 1,500 (5:30.) Fabiola Schellworth in the 3,000 (13:00.1), Zoe McAllister 100 hurdles (17.2), Justine Head in the javelin (101 feet 10 inches) and Aubrey Cretsinger in the long jump (13 feet 7.5 inches).
The boys were nearly as dominant winning with 87 points over La Pine (60) and Elmira (37) even without loading up athletes in their strongest events. Winners for the Outlaws included the 400-meter relay team of Lee Elder, Jared Nelson, Hayden Stein and Levi Rowe (45.9), Taylor Steele in the 1,500 (4:44), Jeff Wilder 400 meters (54.0), Benton Urquhart 800 meters (2:10.6), Tyler Miller shot put (45 feet 6.5 inches), Levi Rowe long jump (20 feet 2.25 inches) and triple jump (40 feet 8.5 inches).
"It was sort of a relaxing meet in the sense that we lightened up by mixing things up," said Johnson. "It gives the kids a break mentally and physically."
The Outlaws travel to Cottage Grove April 30 facing the Lions and Junction City.
