Four Lady Outlaws golfers named all-league

Four players from the girls golf team were first team all-league selections this year, including seniors Shelby Ross and Emily Rawls, junior Stephanie Cole and freshman Hannah Harrer.

Ross finished her fourth year on the varsity squad and this season shot a career best 74 during the regular season at the Middlefield Golf Course in Cottage Grove. Every season since her freshman year, Ross has improved her game by 10 strokes. This year, Ross improved in all aspects of the game, especially her iron shots, hitting all irons 20 yards farther than last season.

Rawls finished her second year on the varsity squad and showed amazing improvement from her freshman year. Rawls went from carding a 162 as a freshman to a career-best 79 this year at Mallard Creek in Lebanon.

Rawls earned top honors as the district champion at Middlefield to cap her high school career. Emily made marked improvement in her putting this season and was also much more accurate off the tee with drives straight down the fairway.

Junior Stephanie Cole recorded a career-best 85 at the district tournament in Middlefield. Last year Cole averaged 110 and this year lowered her average to 92. Cole improved her short game and made longer, more accurate putts.

Freshman Hannah Harrer made her first appearance at both district and the state tournament this year and recorded a personal-best 83 at the district tournament. Harrer had a strong chipping game and by the end of the season was easily able to make the three-foot putt.
