Golfers earn four all-league selections

Elio Keller, a foreign exchange student from Switzerland, was a first team all-league selection, and juniors Jonathan Standen, Cody Farr-Baenziger and Jeff Fought earned second team all-league recognition.

Keller recorded a career-best 76 at the Tokatee Golf Course at the District Tournament and repeated that score at the Quail Valley Golf Course at the state tournament.

Keller was able to drive 270 yards on a consistent basis and showed marked improvement in his short game this season. Elio was able to chip the ball close to the hole and easily make a six-foot putt.

Coach Jeff Barton said, "Elio really played well toward the end of the season and emerged as our best player for the last one-third of the year. He stepped it up in all areas of his game."

Standen shot a 77 career best at the Tokatee Golf Course during the regular season. Jonathan's strength was with his irons, where a high percentage of the time he was able to hit the green for a chance at birdie.

Barton said, "Jonathan was consistent all season long and was a threat to shoot a low score on any given day."

Farr-Baenziger led the Outlaws during the regular season and was solid in his short game. His chips were on target and usually to within four feet of the pin.

Barton noted that Farr-Baenziger was a consistent player for the majority of the season but had a little trouble at the end.

Fought also earned second team all-league honors.

"Jeff has a wealth of talent and played well in spots all season long," said Barton. "He's got tremendous potential."

The Outlaws will bring back Standen, Farr-Baenziger and Fought next year, as well as Aaron Simundson.

"We're going to be good," smiled Barton. "We just need a fifth player to slide into that spot."
