Woman faces theft charge

Brianna Schneibel of Sisters has been indicted on a first-degree theft charge after a year-long investigation into her actions as a volunteer bookkeeper for Little Cloverdale Preschool.

Schneibel is accused of diverting just under $2,000 in school funds for her own use, including paying personal bills. She was arrested on April 30.

According to Deschtues County Sheriff's Office reports, an outgoing president of the Little Cloverdale Preschool Board of Directors noticed financial irregularities in the books and called police in April of 2008.

The irregularities allegedly began within a month of Schneibel assuming duties as a volunteer bookkeeper in October, 2007.

A sheriff's office investigator told The Nugget that Schneibel initially said the irregularities were due to mistakes as a bookkeeper. However, investigators said that the irregularities showed a pattern of abuse.

First-degree theft is a Class C felony.
