News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Lorena Wright passed away at her home in Sisters with her three children at her side. She was 85.
Lorena was born January 20, 1924 in Rushville, Illinois to parents John and Lula Knous. She was the third of five children.
She often talked of her childhood and growing up on a self-sustaining farm in Rushville. After graduating from school in Rushville, she went to work for the Bendix Co. in Chicago, making parts for the military during World War II.
It was in Chicago that she met and married Chester Eugene Wright in 1946. His work took them to Denver, Colorado. They lived there for several years, after which they located in San Fernando, California, for five years.
In 1960 they moved to Sisters. Lorena told her husband she would never leave Sisters, and she didn't. She loved Sisters and her little house on the corner.
Lorena was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses and loved studying the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sons Joseph, James, Jack and a daughter Jamis and brother Charles.
She is survived by daughter Joann and her husband Paul Arrington of Maupin; son John Wright and his wife Laurie of Sisters; daughter Judy and her husband John Douglas of Sacramento, California; sisters Carrie Helen Rohn of Dumerfield, Illinois and Ehtyle of Canton, Illinois; and Brother James of Knous of Rushville, Illinois.
She also has 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She is loved and will missed.
