World champion cowboys headed to Sisters

Ten current and former world champions will compete at the 2009 Sisters Rodeo. From professional rodeo's six-time All-Around World Champion, Trevor Brazile, to the record holder for Most Money Won at a Single Rodeo, Lindsay Sears, the roster reads like rodeo royalty.

In bareback riding, Bobby Mote, rated third in world standings, and Will Lowe, the one-year winnings record holder in this event, will be joined by Kaycee Feild, eighth, and Jessy Davis, 12th in world standings.

Local legend Mote holds two world titles, most currently in 2007.

The Culver rancher has won over a million dollars in professional rodeo.

Saddlebronc riding brings back Cody Wright, who took home the 2008 Sisters Rodeo Championship Buckle on his way to his 2008 World Championship. He will be challenged by Seth Glause, 2007 Sisters All-Around Champion, rated 14th; Rod Hay, seventh; Rusty Allen, 14th; and Taos Muncy, 25th.

Bull riding brings the return of Sisters Rodeo 2008 buckle winner Zach Oakes, along with Colin McTaggart, Marcus Michaelis and the indomitable Seth Glause, all among the Top 20 in professional rodeo world ratings.

In tie-down roping, Trevor Brazile, the All-Around World Champion in six of the last seven years and now third in world standings, will compete with Joe Beaver, who owns eight world titles and was Sisters Rodeo 2008 All-Around Champion.

Oregon's Trevor Knowles, Cash Myers, Mike Johnson, and Blair Burk, Sisters Rodeo 2008 buckle winner, will also compete.

Steer wrestling two-time World Champion Luke Branquinho holds the single-season winnings record from 2008 with eight wins and two all-around titles. His competition includes Jason Miller and Lakeview's Shawn Greenfield.

Team roping brings back Powell Butte's Mike and Brandon Beers and Prineville's Charly Cranford to compete with World Champion Matt Sherwood, Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith, first at 2008 National Finals Rodeo.

Locals Sam Willis and Dave Inman are also entered.

Barrel racing fans will see the return of Terrebonne's Brenda Mays, winner of the Columbia River Circuit Finals, 2008. Her competition includes 2008 World Champion Lindsay Sears; Mary Burger, 2007 World Champion; and Barb West, winner of the 2008 Dodge National Circuit Finals in Pocatello, Idaho.

These and many more cowboys and cowgirls travel from as far as Oklahoma, Texas and central Canada to compete for the largest purse in the nation the second weekend in June at Sisters Rodeo.

Tickets may be purchased at the gate as available for performances Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon, June 12, 13 and 14.
