News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters Outlaws softball player Jenny Kaiser capped her high school career in outstanding fashion as a member of the North All-Stars in the annual 4A Senior All-Star Series, played June 7 at Oregon State University Softball Complex in Corvallis.
Add to that, the 2009 graduate of Sisters High School was notified on June 8 that she had been named to the 4A All-State softball team as a second-team outfielder. In 2008, Kaiser was selected Honorable Mention.
For the 2009 season, Kaiser batted .427 overall, with a school-record 34 runs scored and collected 35 base hits (second most in school history) and stole 13 bases. In her three varsity seasons, she combined to bat over .400 and scored 75 runs. She was recently named the Most Valuable and Most Inspirational player of the 2009 Outlaws.
In Sky-Em League action, Kaiser batted .487 and scored 20 runs in 13 games.
In the all-star double header, Kaiser collected three hits in three official at bats, walked twice, scored two runs and stole three bases. In the North's 8-7 second-game win, Kaiser singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.
She played left and center field for the North All-Stars.
The South won the first game, 13-4.
Outlaws coach Tom Mauldin was an assistant coach for the North All-Stars.
"It wasn't Jenny's offense that had the other coaches raving, it was how much outfield ground she covered," he said. "And she got a chance to show off her arm a few times. Nice way to go out. We'll miss her."
Sky-Em League rival Marist won its second-straight 4A State Title and Spartans Nyree White and Kayla Braud were named 4A co-Players of the Year on the All-State team for the second year in a row. Marist also had two other first-team selections and two third-team picks.
