A woman was arrested for arson after she allegedly set fire to the woods just off Highway 20. The woman said she was just putting out a cigarette, but there were two separate fires that required response from wild land firefighters, so the arresting officer didn't exactly buy the story.
A man complained about loud music coming from a camping area near the rodeo grounds. He closed the door of the pickup truck from which the music was blasting. The door was locked. The owner of the truck broke out the window. He was noted as being "very intoxicated."
A deputy explained to the truck owner that it was not a crime to close the door and that it was his choice to break his own window out.
A minor was cited for possession, manufacture and delivery of a synthetic drug known as "Sunshine," similar to Ecstasy.
A man complained on the morning after that he had been assaulted at a local watering hole. It turned out to be a mutual tussle sparked by inappropriate attention paid to someone's wife.
There were several DUII arrests over the weekend. One man was arrested leaving the rodeo grounds with a blood alcohol content of .22 percent. Another man was just behind in the human swizzle stick competition, scoring a BAC of .21 percent. A 53-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving and attempting to elude officers.
A local rancher reported the theft of 1.5 tons of hay.
