Little League All-Stars headed to tourney

Sisters Little League concluded the 2009 regular season with closing ceremonies last week, where All-Star players were announced.

All-Star baseball and softball players head to Hermiston this weekend for district competition. Thirty-three baseball and 16 softball teams are vying for the District Five Championship.

District Five ranges from La Pine to Hermiston to the Columbia River. Winners at District move on to state then Western Regional play.

Sisters is sending two baseball teams and a softball team.

The nine-and 10-year-old baseball team is managed by Jeff Parsons and coached by Marcel Luz and Stan Morgan. All-Stars are Christopher Luz, Zach Morgan, Ryan Cook, Alec Gannon, Jonathan Gurney, Jacob Gurney, Colton Mannhalter, Caden Marks, Jake Larson, Jonathan Bertagna, Hayden Parsons, Ben Saba and Brian Ramirez.

The 11- and 12-year-old baseball team is managed by Mike Lewis and coached by Tom Harrer. All-Stars are Ben Larson, Tristan Lewis, Nick Waters, Connor Schaab, Justin Harrer, Connor Gellings, Billy Biggers, Trevor Standen, Brandon Pollard, Jens Stadeli and Hunter Jutte.

The junior softball team (ages 13-14) is managed by Tammi Nieri and coached by Tom Rowe and Rusty Bellew. All-Stars are Taylor Nieri, Britney Simundson, Jaimee Simundson, Megan Minke, Quincy Shepard, Lauren Cantwell, Harley Rowe, Tianna Nieri, Marcy Calavan, Justine Bruguier, Katie Bellew, Jordan Turner, Amanda Caine and Ralyn Williams.

All-Star play runs June 27 to July 1. The tournament is held in a different league city each year.
