News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Black Butte Ranch Women's Golf Club is looking for new players.
Paula Reents, current president, emphasizes that you don't have to live at the resort to participate.
"All are welcome," she said. "It's a great way to meet people."
A guest day is planned for Tuesday, June 30. All women golfers are invited to try out the Big Meadow Course for $25.
"It's really playable. You don't get beat up like you do at some places," she said.
Reents said a common misunderstanding is that one has to be "really good" to play in the group. Although there are some golfers with a low handicap, many are in the high 20s or 30s, she pointed out.
The women's group plays every Tuesday at 8 a.m. There is a different competition each week, and play alternates between Big Meadow and Glaze Meadow courses at Black Butte.
The group also participates in numerous exchanges with women's groups at other courses in Central Oregon. This includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf with cart and lunch.
There is also team play competition with other courses and several tournaments throughout the season.
Membership costs $40 per year, with a $3 entry fee each week.
