Scholarships available for summer youth programs

The Sisters Park & Recreation District has funds available for children who would like to participate in summer recreation programs and need assistance with registration fees.

In this economy, many families do not have the money to enroll their children in summer recreation, sports, and enrichment programs, and SPRD has received some generous donations and grants to help all families in the Sisters area.

The City of Sisters has recently made a $4,000 grant for youth scholarships. Scholarship grants have also been given by The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation and The Every Kid Fund.

These scholarships are available to all children and teenage youth in the Sisters area and can be used for registration in SPRD summer programs such as the drop-in recreation program, sport camps, field trips and gymnastics classes.

"We have some great summer programs for kids, and we have scholarships available, so we hope families will give us a call and take advantage of this opportunity to have their kids involved this summer," said executive director Carrie Ward.

The scholarship application process is simple and confidential. For more information call Sisters Park & Recreation District at 549-2091.
