News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Lillian Margaret Pryme was born October 24, 1917, in Newport, Rhode Island, to Clarence and Mary Reed. She passed peacefully at the home of her daughter on July 23.
She received a degree in nursing from Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California, in 1939. During the war years she worked at the Naval Ship Yards in San Pedro, California, as a nurse. In later years she worked in a doctor's office and in 1964 went back to school and received her bachelor's degree and teaching credential and then worked for the L.A. Unified School District as a school nurse. She retired in 1988.
Among Lillian's most admirable qualities were love of her family, her kind and tender heart, generosity, and her strong inner core. She was our rock.
Her favorite pastimes included gardening (she had the greenest thumb in history). Her love for dancing led her to meet her second husband, Ira Pryme. They were married in 1978. Loving to travel, she was able to visit Europe and cruise to Alaska and through the Panama Canal.
She is survived by her children, Pat Melchiori of Sisters, who took wonderful care of her in her later years and her son, Michael Cooper, also of Sisters. Also by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her third child, Norman, in 1974 and her husband, Ira Pryme, in 1996.
Services will be held Thursday, August 6, at St. Edward the Martyr Catholic Church, 123 Trinity Way, Sisters, with a Mass of Intention at 8 a.m. followed by a burial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimers Association and/or Hospice of Redmond-Sisters.
