New marketing director at BBR

Charles Kingsbaker is the new director of sales and marketing at Black Butte Ranch.

Kingsbaker brings 10 years of resort and golf experience to the position and has ties to Oregon. The Phoenix, Arizona native played golf for Oregon State University, graduating in 1997. His first position was as membership sales director at the Oregon Golf Club, in the Portland area.

His wife, Deanna Haake, was born in Bend, grew up in Eugene and graduated from the University of Oregon. Kingsbaker will lead the development, management, and implementation of strategic marketing and sales strategies for the resort.

"We are very excited to have Charles join the team at Black Butte Ranch," stated Scott Huntsman, president and CEO. "He is well respected within the industry and comes to us with expertise in all facets of the business."

Kingsbaker's most recent experience is with Troon Golf, based in Phoenix. He oversaw resort, real estate and golf sales and marketing for several Troon Golf properties.

The 34-year-old is pleased to come back to Oregon, where he and his wife have family and many friends. He is also excited about his new job, noting the positive brand and history BBR has in Oregon.

"Generations of families have been coming here for a long time, creating happy memories," he said.

He said he plans to continue that tradition and work on educating people outside of Oregon about Black Butte Ranch.

"It's a special place," he said.

Kingsbaker said the resort will continue the things it is known for such as free turkeys at Thanksgiving and free Christmas trees when a room is booked. He plans to expand use of Internet marketing. Advantages he cites are the resort's many amenities, location for summer and winter activities and proximity to the Redmond Airport.
