Ken Bernard

Kenneth Walter Bernard of Sisters passed away on July 26, in Bend. He was 70.

Ken was born February 18, 1939 in Portland, to Ken and Esther Bernard. He spent most of his childhood years growing up in the Newberg and St. Paul area. He attended Newberg High School and in 1957 joined the Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.

While there he met the love of his life, Anne Marie Darnell. They married on September 12, 1959 and enjoyed nearly 50 years of life together.

They stayed in the Southern California area and started their family. In 1970 they relocated to Newberg where Ken went to work for A-dec. He worked there for 27 years and retired in May of 1997.

Ken and Anne built their dream home in Sisters, where they moved after retiring. In his retirement years Ken's passions were his wife, his family, golf, and building furniture for his kids and grandkids.

Ken is survived by his wife Anne; son Scott of Sherwood; daughter Debbie Phipps of Salem; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ken was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather; we will love and remember him forever.

A service to celebrate Ken's life will be held on Friday, August 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Edward the Martyr Catholic Church, 123 Trinity Way, Sisters. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1200 Naito Parkway Suite 220, Portland, OR 97209.
