Sisters glass artist featured in show

Sisters Art Works will host "Harmony: A Duet of Glass and Nature" at the Sisters Art Works gallery at 204 W. Adams Ave. The show, which runs September 2-30, features Nancy Becker's glass artwork produced at her Central Oregon studio.

This show focuses on the harmony of glass combined with nature. Inspiration is derived from the majesty of Central Oregon and a love of nature.

"I am completely enchanted by the beauty surrounding us and by the intricate, delicate fabric of living," Becker said. "Central Oregon is an area rich in wildlife, big skies and natural splendor offering continual inspiration."

Becker has developed her own definitive style of creating fine art glass at the furnace. Combining the hand blown process with a cold sand carving process allows a contemporary combination of techniques and a spectacular result. Describing her work, Becker explains: "I am combining glass pieces with juniper and stone - like something you might come across in nature - some flowers, a rock, a branch."

Area artists note Becker's skill and artistic vision come together seamlessly to create magnificent glass artwork. Her eye for detail and passion for the art is well regarded, and her pieces often become collector items.

"Nancy Becker's installations enter you into a spiritual space. Her work brings vibrant color and energy into a room unlike any other art form," said musician Katie Cavanaugh.

This event is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and weekends by appointment.
