News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws already have back-to-back league titles under their belts and hope to capture their third this year.
Sisters returns six veteran players to the team, including seniors Haylee Schaab, Jessie Snow and Courtney Satko, who will be pivotal in leading the team. Schaab and Snow are both three-year varsity players. Haylee will play at outside hitter and Jessie will be the Lady Outlaws libero (defense specialist). Satko will step into a full-time role as outside hitter.
Junior Kaity Douglass will return for a second year as the squad's setter and will lead the team on offense. Hannah Harrer (sophomore) returns with a year of experience under her belt and will play with confidence at the middle position. Sydney Stoneback returns as the Outlaws defensive specialist and, according to Coach Diane Bremer, she's been perfecting her craft diligently since last season.
New to the team are juniors Mary Jane Schulte and Marissa Calavan who will bring a well-rounded skill set to the team. Sophomores Chelsea Reifschneider and Lizzie Carhart will also join the team at the net as well as Megan Minke who will play outside hitter.
The Lady Outlaws' strengths will be their defense and net play. Sisters has some talented athletes with good jumping ability coupled with aggressiveness at the net.
Bremer said, "We will feel the loss of Fe Pledger (4A Player of the Year in 2008), Jenny Kaiser, Emily Douglass and Shea Kotal, but the talent stepping in should make us solid again. Cottage Grove (CG) and Marist will be tough for us this year, with CG returning most of their varsity players. We have our sights set on a third league title, but we're going to have to go get it every match. We are looking for a third visit to the 4A championships."
