The Outlaws boys soccer team kicked off the season with a jamboree held at Redmond High School on Thursday, September 3. The Outlaws tied Madras 1-1 in game one and trounced Crook County 7-1 in game two.
Scotty Bowen had a volley finish in the air off a right-to-left cross from Dirk Vandervelde to score Sisters' goal against Madras.
Freddy Gonazales scored a hat trick to lead the Outlaws to their 7-1 finish over Crook County in the second game.
Gonzalez broke away and scored on a well-placed shot into the net for the first goal of the game thanks to a great assist from Grayson Gould.
Gonzalez scored two more goals in the game. Tim Hernandez scored two goals and Scotty Bowen and Devon Prescott each scored one. Gould, Hernandez and Prescott each recorded an assist.
Crook County's lone goal came off a penalty kick in the second half.
Coach Rob Jensen said, "The defense played extremely well. They limited shots and controlled the game. The teams ball control was very good. Dirk Vandervelde was a valuable and key player in both games.
"Overall, the intensity of both games was very good. The guys got their feet under them and got used to playing with different combinations of players. It was a good showing for our first time out."
The Outlaws will play at Cascade on Thursday, September 10, and host Henley on Saturday, September 12.
