Sisters Harvest Faire marks 34 years

The Sisters Harvest Faire has turned Hood Avenue into a street festival each year for the past 34 years.

The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce's Sisters Harvest Faire is set for Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

More than 150 vendors will be present, selling quality handcrafted items including pottery, metal art, photography, painting, jewelry, clothing, furniture, home décor and much more.

For 34 years, Sisters has been celebrating the changing season with this celebration of arts and crafts. The annual Harvest Faire boasts two full days of hands-on activities, live entertainment, educational opportunities, great food and old-fashioned fun.

This year there is a kids' activity area presented by Sisters Christian Academy, complete with a pumpkin painting contest and games. The fair also features the Hero Quilters raffling off their 150-piece quilt, made specifically for Oregon's 150th Birthday Celebration.

"The Sisters Harvest Faire is one of my favorite events to organize because it is unmatched in quality and unique arts and crafts," said Jeri Buckmann, events director for the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce.

The entertainment this year will feature local musicians, Sideroads Trio. They will be entertaining guests with light rock and roll and bluegrass tunes. Three Creeks Brewing Co. will be hosting this year's beer booth.

Local artists Michael and Linda Soeby will be featuring their hand-crafted Father Christmas figurines. Don Zylius, a local Sisters artist, will be featuring his water color paintings, and Linda Jacobsen will be displaying her unique form of fabric art. Another popular artist returning to the show this year is local potter Mitch Deadrick.
