Albert "Lee" Currie

On Tuesday, September 29, 2009, our beloved Albert "Lee" Currie passed away after complications due to an infection and heart failure.

Lee led the life of his dreams. After serving in the Korean War, when he was 24 years old, Lee created a very successful oil and chemical company in San Diego, Crown Chemical Company. After selling Crown Chemical Company in 1986 at the age of 55, Lee chose to retire and focus on being a gentleman rancher with horses as his new passion, including riding proudly in parades, trail riding, overnight rides and collecting saddles.

With Madelin, his devoted wife of 33 years, they enjoyed traveling around the world, buying, selling and decorating homes, along with their love of just being together.

After leaving Garner Valley in the San Jacinto Mountains in 1990, they moved to Sisters. In 2002 they moved to Bend where they made their home and enjoyed their new lifestyle in the big city.

With his twinkling eyes and bright smile he made everyone feel special. He was a man who never met a stranger, and loved to listen to everyone's story. He touched many lives with his kindness and gentle spirit.

Lee is survived by his wife Madelin; his sister Eleanor Gaddy of San Diego; three daughters from Texas, Alice Ash, Kathy White, Nora Currie; and his grandson, Phillip Strong.

Those who wish may send memorials in Lee's name to Hospice House of Bend or the American Heart Association.

Information provided by the family of Lee Currie.
