Sisters salutes...

•Laredo Construction was named one of the top 550 construction companies in the nation by Remodel magazine.

Laredo has won this type of award before for the quality of its work and customer satisfaction, which is reflected in repeat business from clients - some of whom have had as many as five or even 10 projects handled by Laredo Construction.

"It takes a lot of dedication and attention to detail to have that many clients coming back for so long," said owner Bruce Merrell. "We're honest, we're forthright and we give good value."

Merrell has been in business for more than 25 years.

"We find it very rewarding to solve residential problems and make peoples' dreams come true," he said.

•John Tehan will be inducted into the Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Fame on October 18, in a ceremony in Portland.

Tehan, co-owner of Bronco Billy's Ranch Grill and Saloon, is being honored for his outstanding high school athletic achievements. He was a four-year letterman in baseball at Lincoln High School, where he played catcher, and he was an all-state offensive lineman in football. He played in the Shrine game as an offensive guard and was named his team's most valuable player.

Tehan played sports along with Bill Reed and his longtime business partner, John Keenan.

"I'm a little humbled by the whole thing," he told The Nugget. "I'm really excited about it."
