News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws volleyball team notched wins over La Pine, Elmira and Junction City (JC) - all in three straight sets - to push to a 10-1 record in league play.
On Tuesday, October 20, Sisters took down the Hawks of La Pine with scores of 25-13, 25-23 and 25-18, and two days later beat Elmira 25-7, 25-16 and 25-13. On Saturday, October 24, Sisters beat JC 25-13, 25-9 and 25-8.
In Tuesday's match-up against the Hawks, setter Kaity Douglass logged 25 assists for the night and contributed three kills. Haylee Schaab and Hannah Harrer led the offense with 11 kills each. Megan Minke had four kills, Chelsea Reifschneider had three kills and Lizzy Carhart, Courtney Satko and Mary Jane Schulte added two kills each.
Libero Jessie Snow recorded 12 digs and Douglass added five. Satko was perfect from the service line at 11 for 11.
Douglass said, "We executed well tonight. The hitters definitely mixed it up with chips and tips and I tried to keep the offense fresh by running different plays that would throw off their defense. I still don't think our team has found its full power or reached its full potential yet. We hope to reach our peak as we finish out the season and head into playoffs."
Two days later the Outlaws hosted the Falcons of Elmira and honored seniors Snow, Schaab and Satko before the match.
The Falcons were no match for the Outlaws, who walked away with an easy win. Sisters dominated the match from the onset. Harrer had a spectacular night and notched 14 kills and seven blocks, followed by Schaab who finished the night with 10 kills and Minke who added four kills from the middle.
Douglass recorded 19 assists and seven digs and Snow finished with 11 digs on the night.
Sydney Stoneback came off the bench in games two and three with solid passing which enabled the Outlaws to run a quick offense.
Elmira has yet to record a win in Sky-Em play this season, but Coach Diane Bremer noted that the Falcons are a much-improved team from the past two years.
On Saturday, October 24, Sisters came out with a vengeance against the Tigers of JC and never looked back.
The Lady Outlaws made very few unforced errors which was reflected in the scores of the match. Both the defense and the offense played extremely well. Power hitters Schaab and Harrer were both amazing at the net. Harrer finished the night with 14 kills and eight blocks, followed by Schaab, who recorded 11 kills and six blocks. Satko had six nice kills from the right side with one a powerful swing on an overpass by the Tigers that Courtney nailed right down the sideline. Carhart and Schulte added three kills each.
Reifschneider had two kills on the night and had an impressive serving run in game two. Chelsea stepped up to the service line with the score 18-9 and took the Outlaws all the way to 25-9 to finish the game.
Libero Jessie Snow recorded 21 digs for the night and Satko recorded 10. Setter Kaity Douglass logged 28 assists.
The Lady Outlaws wrap up league play at Cottage Grove on Tuesday, October 27. A win over the Lady Lions will secure the league championship for Sisters.
