News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sisters Community Traditional Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Annual Christmas Parade on Friday and Saturday, November 27-28 in downtown Sisters.
For the fifth year, the Deschutes Land Trust, the Chamber and the City of Sisters have worked together to bring a beautiful 30-foot white fir to Barclay Park in downtown Sisters. The annual lighting ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 27, and will include carolers, the bell choir, speeches from local dignitaries and hot cocoa and popcorn.
"What a fantastic way to celebrate our great community," said Mayor Lon Kellstrom. "The annual Christmas tree lighting is a great way to bring all facets of Sisters together to share in the beauty of this holiday season. I am proud to be a part of this community always, but this time of year reminds me of the true spirit Sisters has to offer."
The annual Christmas parade down Hood Avenue begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 28.
Chamber staff and volunteers will stage photos with Santa Claus at the Sisters Chamber office (291 E. Main Ave.) after the parade.
The tree lighting and annual Christmas parade are a part of the annual Cowboy Christmas, hosted by the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce. For a complete Cowboy Christmas calendar of events visit http://www.sisterscountry.com or call 549-0251.
