Fouts named Greatest Charger of All Time

Dan Fouts was in SanDiego last weekend to do commentary for the SanDiego Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs game.

But this was no ordinary working Sunday for the Sisters resident and NFL Hall-of-Famer. Fouts was honored as part of the Chargers' 50th Anniversary Team - named Greatest Charger of All Time.

"It's pretty humbling when you think of the players that have come through in this organization in their 50 years of existence," Fouts told The Nugget. "It's really a tribute to longtime Chargers coach, Don Coryell, because he made it possible for us."

Coryell set the stage for Fouts' remarkable career with innovations to the passing game that earned the Chargers' offense the title "Air Coryell."

Fouts holds the team career record for passing attempts (5,604), completions (3,297), yards (43,040) and touchdowns (254). He was voted to the Pro Bowl six times, four times as a starter.

Fouts told The Nugget last week that he was looking forward to reuniting with former teammates for a celebratory weekend.

"I haven't seen some of these guys in a few years, so I'm really looking forward to that," he said.
