News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Nugget's Furry Friends Pet Food drive fed 386 pets last year. Now in its 16th year, the need is expected to be greater than ever this year.
Dry pet food, treats and toys will be distributed before Christmas in conjunction with the Sisters Kiwanis Holiday Food Share program to insure that those families who have pets will not be left lacking when caring for their pets this holiday season.
"We are thankful American Nutrition has pledged their donation of four pallets of food again this year, but we know we'll need twice that much this year," said The Nugget's Kiki Dolson.
To donate to the Furry Friends Pet Food Drive, bring dry pet food (no cans please), toys and treats to The Nugget office at 442 E. Main Ave.
The greatest need is for large bags; 18- to 40-pound bags of dry dog and cat kibble.
Food is purchased with the cash donations based on the numbers of cats and dogs submitted through the Kiwanis food drive applications. Money on hand is vital to fulfill the need. Individuals wishing to make a cash donation may drop off a check made out to The Nugget's Furry Friends Pet Food Drive or mail it to The Nugget at P.O. Box 698, Sisters, OR 97759.
Cash donations must be received by December 17 to purchase food; after that date they will be used to fund spay and neuter certificates.
