News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Stefan Redfield, a 2007 graduate of Sisters High School, was the top finisher for Willamette University at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships held at Highland Park Golf Course near Cleveland, Ohio on November 21.
Redfield clocked 26:26 for the eight-kilometer course, good enough for 57th place overall among 276 finishers. The Bearcat team placed 20th among the 32 teams competing in the meet. North Central College of Illinois won the team title by a landslide with just 50 team points, well ahead of runner-up Williams College (181). Willamette scored 476 points.
Ricky Flynn, of Lynchburg College, won the individual title by over 20 seconds in 25:09.
The top-20 finish marks the seventh consecutive year that Willamette has achieved that status, and with six of its top seven runners back next year, it appears likely they will return even stronger in 2010.
Redfield is the son of Susanne and Randy Redfield of Sisters.
