Young squad readies to hit the court

The boys basketball team returns only two varsity players this year, senior Drew Harrison and junior Rodney Warner.

Coach Rand Runco said, "These guys are steady and consistent, and we'll build around them."

Harrison is a four-year player and will be key for the Outlaws this year.

"The great thing about Drew is his versatility. He can bring the ball up, play wing or post up. He's one of the most versatile players I've ever coached," said Runco.

Runco commented that Warner is an exciting player to watch, has great energy and is a threat from any place on the court.

Three players, Randy Ketchum, Cory Holt and Aaron Simundson were swing players last year and will play solely at the varsity level this year. All are very consistent players and will lend stability to the team.

Moving up to varsity from JV will be juniors Jordan Hodges and Zach Mickel and sophomores Jalen Miller and John Erickson. There are several others who are battling for a varsity spot and have not yet been named at this point.

Runco said, "We're lacking in varsity experience, but we have very versatile players who can play a lot of positions. Along with our versatility, we have excellent youth who will give us energy. We're still figuring out who we are, but as a team we're going to grow consistently throughout the season."
