News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The 45 members of the Sisters Sno-Go-Fers gathered November 7 to celebrate the kickoff of the snowmobiling season in Sisters Country.
This year, the group raffled a quilt made by Lynne Steele as a fundraiser for Sisters Family Access Network.
Last week, Virgil LeBlanc presented a check to an appreciative Dawn Cooper and Theresa Slavkovsky, of FAN.
"This is the first year that we've done this," said Inez LeBlanc. "The need that's out there is just overwhelming."
The club also collected food for donation to the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank.
The funds donated to FAN will be used in the emergency fund to help people who have fallen upon hard times.
According to Cooper, FAN is seeing an increase in requests for assistance with utility bills and rent and for hygiene products, which are in constant demand.
"Our lockers are pretty empty right now," Cooper told The Nugget. "It goes out as fast as it comes in."
