Frank Archer III, of Black Butte Ranch, died on December 4, 2009. He was 80.
A Committal Service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 333 S.W. Skyline Blvd. in Portland.
Frank Archer III was born in Wilmar, CA, on November 17, 1929 to Frank Jr. and Ida (Keller) Archer. He met and married JoAnne Marie Finley, who preceded him in death on June 5, 1983. Then he married Beverly J. Combs on February 5, 1988 in Portland.
Frank worked at Aerojet for many years in California, then in 1971 he founded and was owner/operator of Archer's Precision Sheet Metal in Tigard. Frank served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1948-1954 and was honorably discharged. He was an avid golfer; a past member at Riverside Country Club in Portland and a current member at Black Butte Ranch Men's Golf Club. He was especially proud of hitting a hole-in-one four times!
Survivors include his wife, Beverly, of Black Butte Ranch; daughter, Kathleen Marie Fox of Merrill; sisters, Marilyn Bentley of Salem and Alberta Orfield of Oregon City; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnne, his parents and sons, Frank Edwin Archer and Steven Curtis Archer.
