News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters Elementary School students presented their annual Christmas program Thursday evening, December 6. They had a message for us all: mind your manners, watch your attitude, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you - all conveyed through singing and dancing.
Friends are like diamonds, they sang. Friends are a present.
They ended their program sharing their last and greatest wish. "I truly believe that hope is the greatest gift we'll receive," they sang.
Debbie Schlatter, who teaches music to all grades, worked with the students on much of the program along with Mark Lamont, who has taught at Sisters Elementary School for 15 years. Mrs. Cash, on piano, volunteered her time every lunch, along with other parent volunteers.
Carol Ezell, mother of a second and a fourth grade student, helped the students with all their speaking parts. Students gave up their lunch recess to rehearse.
"I just try to do as much as I can. I appreciate the teachers and the school," Ezell said.
Her daughter Anna performed for the first time.
"I liked speaking," Anna said, "I kept practicing every lunch recess for a couple weeks and just practiced every day."
