Mary Josephine Cochran was born on December 26, 1921. She died peacefully at her home near Sisters on December 21, 2009.
Mary Jo was the only child of Walter Lindgren and Zella Smith Lindgren. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mary Jo grew up in Tacoma, Washington, graduating from Stadium High School. Mary Jo moved from Arcata, California to Sisters in 1970. She did secretarial work for Deschutes County Planning Commission, and later for Indian Ford Development.
Mary Jo loved music, sang solos and directed choir in the early Sisters Baptist Church. Her faith and service was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gene; daughters Nancy Simpson of Arcata, CA and Jacqueline Campeau of El Segundo, CA; son David Cochran of Arcata, CA; grandchildren Doreen Hargus, Michael Cochran, Jonathan Cochran, Shelley Campeau, Jeffrey Campeau; and two great-grandchildren, Devon and Benjamin.
Mary Jo's family extends heartfelt thanks to caregivers Kara Kunert and Lynn Cole, and to Hospice of Redmond and Sisters. A memorial service will be held at Sisters Church of the Nazarene, 67130 Harrington Loop Rd., Sunday, January 17, at 2:30 p.m.
