David Lloyd Kamrath

David Lloyd Kamrath, husband of Barbara Kamrath, died unexpectedly January 11, 2010 in Bend.

David was born January 24, 1948 in Oregon City, to Herbert and Margaret Kamrath. He grew up in Beavercreek, Oregon, on the family farmstead on Kamrath Road. He graduated from Oregon City High School in 1966.

David served from 1967 through 1969 in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. Upon his return in 1969, David married Barbara Sturgeon in Beavercreek. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.

David and Barbara raised two children: daughter Kendall Dukes (Pat), who gave them two grandchildren, Max and Emylia; and son Kiley Kamrath (Kate), who gave them two grandchildren, Taylor and Aurora.

In 1981, the Kamrath family moved to Delta Junction, Alaska, where David continued with farming, machinery sales, farm construction and trucking. In 2001, Barbara began teaching at Sisters Elementary School and David operated his businesses in both Oregon and Alaska.

Survivors include all of David's siblings: Bette Tuthill, Oregon City; Anna Mitchell, Newberg; Berneice Jones, Rancho Murieta, California; Herbert Kamrath, Milwaukie; Carole Tuthill, Oregon City; Fred Kamrath, Beavercreek; Dale Kamrath, Seaside; Jeannette Mazilu, Oregon City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Margaret Kamrath.

Private family services have been held in Oregon City. He was interned at Ten O'Clock Cemetery, Beavercreek. Contributions in David's memory may be made to Sisters Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 2155, Sisters, OR 97759.
