SPRD seeks board, budget committee members

The Sisters Park & Recreation District Board of Directors are looking for district residents who would be interested in serving on the Board of Directors or on the Budget Committee.

SPRD Board member, Dr. Bonnie Malone, has resigned from her position and the board is seeking district residents who are interested in serving in the position. They will then appoint a new board member who will serve until the next special districts board election in May 2011.

Sisters Park & Recreation District is governed by five elected board members. Interested citizens must reside inside the SPRD boundaries and be a registered voter. Candidates are asked to submit a brief letter of interest stating why they would like to serve on the board. The deadline for submitting letters is February 26.

The SPRD Board sets policy for the district, oversees the annual budget, develops long-range plans and helps to secure funding and resources for the district. Candidates must be able to attend weekly board meeting, serve on sub-committees, support the mission of the district and represent district residents.

The district is also recruiting district residents to serve on the budget committee. Five citizens serve on the budget committee to review and consider the annual budget. There are three vacant positions on the budget committee.

Interested citizens must reside inside the Sisters Park & Recreation District boundary and be registered voters. Budget committee members serve three-year terms. The budget committee meets in May of each year to review the budget proposal in a series of two to four meetings.

Candidates are asked to submit a brief letter of interest by Friday, February 26.
