News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Four wrestlers earned first- place finishes against La Pine at home on January 21. The Outlaws lost 60-18 to the Hawks, but individual Outlaws had success on the mat.
Josh O'Brien (125 pounds) continued his winning streak and dominated in all three rounds. O'Brien wrestled very well and capitalized on stretching Deion Mock in the grapevine to earn a 17-6 win.
Jacob Miller (145 pounds) pinned Chris Stevens in round one, dominating him with a double arm bar. Steven Nemer (152 pounds) won his match in a 5-0 decision over Aron Briant.
Coach Gene O'Brien stated that Nemer is improving every match and listens well to directions.
Gilbert Porraz (160 pounds) finished his match with a front double arm bar to pin Kyle Contueas in round one.
"All of my wrestlers are improving," said O'Brien. "Due to sickness and eligibility reasons we started out 30 points down, so the score is actually closer than it appears. Our first-year wrestlers, Chandler (Zenich), Johnny (Englich) and Ryan (Long) are just making first-year mistakes but are wrestling real strong."
Sisters will take on Cottage Grove at La Pine January 28.
The Sisters Middle School wrestling season started January 4. The squad had their first match January 20 against Obsidian Middle School.

Five of the wins were pins by Hunter Rychener, Shane Cormalis, Kyle Strickland, Porter Ford and Sam Walker.
