News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Does your business have what it takes to measure up to the Wolftree Challenge?
Five four-person teams from businesses in the Sisters community will find out on April 19, as they participate in a "science and nature race" in the Whychus/Metolius watersheds.
Teams will meet at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, where they will be given a provision pack which includes a Wolftree water bottle for each member, a field journal for recording progress, a map and various other items to support them during the challenge.
Teams will visit stations set up in the watersheds to finish a nature challenge - supervised by local students who have experienced Wolftree's hands-on environmental education programs. Points are awarded by those site supervisors.
The last stop of the Wolftree Challenge will be at main sponsor Jen's Garden restaurant in Sisters, where participants will enjoy a three-course wine dinner. Each team will give a report on the race and defend their findings. Awards will be decided by a team of judges.
Only four businesses will participate. Entry fee is $500 per team. The purpose of the event - besides an educational good time for participants - is to raise awareness about Wolftree science and environmental education programs.
Participating businesses receive exposure through pre-and post-race publicity.
