Outlaws tennis team beats the Buffs

The boys tennis team defeated the White Buffaloes at Madras on March 17.

Three of the four singles' teams notched wins and two of the four doubles' teams won their matches.

Ben Fullhart (No. 1 singles) defeated Joe Garcia 6-1, 6-4. Sean Tosello (No. 2 singles) beat Ryan Hutchins 6-2 in the first set and then fell 8-9 in the second. Tosello fought back and took the third set 6-2.

"Sean started quickly, only to find himself in a dogfight tie-break in the second set," said Coach Garth Tosello. "After dropping the tie-break 8-9, Sean finished strong in the third set."

Jared Schneider (No. 3 singles) easily handled John Hernandez in two sets with scores of 6-0, 6-1.

In No. 1 doubles, Colby Gilmore and Luke Gnos beat Kesh Phillips and Ryan Fine 6-2, 6-4. Jake Laskin and Sam Quinn (No. 2 doubles) beat Caleb Freshour and Alexsis Penaloza 6-4, 6-3.

Trevor Bulman-Jutte and Seth Urquhart (No. 3 doubles) fell 0-6 in their first set against Carlos Mendez and Jordan Gemelas but came back to win 7-5 in the second set. The duo lost the third set by two, 4-6.

"Trevor and Seth came back from a 0-6 first set and played real well at the net, making a run at the other team," said Tosello. "They dropped a close third set."

Tosello summed up the match: "Overall, the team played much more aggressive than the last match. It was a good win."

A day earlier, Ben Fullhart was the lone winner in Sisters' first match of the season at home against Bend High.

Fullhart (No. 1 singles) defeated Aiden Contreraz in two sets with scores of 6-1, 6-3. Fullhart kept the ball in play, served and returned the ball well and was steady the entire match.
