Letters to the Editor 03/31/2010

To the Editor:

Last week there was a really nice article published about our Sparrow, Holly Davis ("Schools give to Sisters Sparrow," The Nugget, March 24, page 20).

Becca Pelham did a fine job describing Holly, her family and what our club has been doing to help the Davis family.

Our student body has enjoyed completing their community service hours for Holly. In fact, they have completed well over the minimum 256 hours that Sparrow Club USA will pay toward Holly's project. However, in order for Holly to get those dollars, a corporate sponsor is needed.

Alternatively, 40 community sponsors at $100 each could come together in place of the corporate sponsor. Our club is hoping to secure the 40 community sponsors for Holly, but to date we have had only 6 such sponsors.

This letter is my attempt to request that 34 more members of this caring and giving community get behind Holly's fight against cancer and join in the community sponsorship.
