BBR to open Robert's Pub at Big Meadow

Black Butte Ranch will open Robert's Pub, A Gathering Place, at Big Meadow Golf Course, on Saturday April 10.

The new Northwest-style family pub takes the place of the former Big Meadow clubhouse restaurant.

Dean Ecker, food and beverage director for Black Butte Ranch, said, "We are excited to share this new culinary concept for the Ranch with our guests, homeowners, golfers and the local community. We focused on creativity, variety and value, as we continue to see our customers look to customize their dining experience with food and beverage choices that cater to their palettes and their

wallets."

The renovated restaurant has a more intimate, warmer feel, noted BBR marketing director Charles Kingsbaker. The project, built by R&H Construction, is part of a two-stage effort to reinvigorate BBR's food and beverage service.

The second phase, a reinvention of the dining experience at the Lodge restaurant, began on Monday. The restaurant will reopen just before Mother's Day with a new ranch-flavored décor and a fine-dining menu.

Robert's Pub is named after legendary golf course designer Robert Muir Graves, who died in 2003. Graves designed the Big Meadow golf course, and the pub will feature a pictorial history of his work and a bronze sculpture of his golf bag will be a signature piece in the pub's entryway.

"Of all the projects he did around the world, Black Butte was his favorite," Mimi Graves said of her husband's work. "The whole family is very excited about naming this in Bob's honor. He just loved that place. It's kind of like his spirit's still there, you know?"

Robert's Pub will feature an all-day menu which includes new starters, pubwiches, fresh salads and classic sandwiches.

The after-5-p.m. dinner menu features new sharable starters, specials and sandwiches, such as Lumberjack Fries loaded with melted cheddar cheese and house-made Stout Pub chili and slow-roasted Chipotle Lime Baby Back ribs.

The atmosophere will be casual and family-friendly, with several TVs where patrons can enjoy sporting events. The bar will feature a wide range of microbrews and wines by the glass at wallet-friendly prices.

Kingsbaker said that the effort to reinvigorate food and beverage service at the Ranch stemmed from a desire to give homeowners, guests and the community at large dining options with distinctive character and an individual identity.
