She was born in Fresno, California. She married Hubert Bazel Herring and they were married for 61 years. They had two children together, Jackie Dewayne Herring and Norma Fay Herring England. Adopted three children - The Edwards Sisters - Lorene Goddard, Janet Julian and Jean Walker.
While Hugh managed cattle ranches, Opal cared for over 80 foster children through the years and considered most of them their own.
After Hugh Herring's death, Opal remarried Jonathan "Johnny" Johnson, from Redmond, on June 24, 1995. They were married five years before he passed.
Opal and Hugh Herring owned and operated O bar H Corrals and the Metolious River Resort and Restaurant in Camp Sherman in the '60s and '70s. Upon retirement, they moved to Redmond. Opal managed the Mountain View Mobile Park in Redmond for several years and resided there until a few months before her death.
Opal was proceeded in death by Hubert B. Herring and Johnny Johnson (her husbands), her son Jackie D. Herring, her daughters, Norma Faye England and Jean Edward Walker.
Opal is survived by daughters Reanie Goddard of Eugene and Janet Julie of School Craft, Michigan; and son-in-law Frank
England of Colville, Washington; grandsons Jackie Dewayne Herring, Jr. of Sisters, Jamie Hubert Herring of Jefferson City, Missouri, Kevin England of Spokane, Washington; granddaughter Karen Ann Stewart of Spokane, Washington; and their families.
Her love of her saviour, Jesus Christ, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren sustained her all of her 95 years.
