Sisters rider heads to motosport minis

Sophomore Cameron Brown started to motosport race when he was just eight years old. After nine tough years of racing - which included several concussions, a cracked sternum, surgery on his arm and several shoulder dislocations - Brown has achieved one of his goals: competing at the World Minis.

Brown's top-place finishes (two first and two seconds) at the Northwest Arena Cross at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds on March 5-6 earned him recognition. Cameron was able to secure several sponsors, which made his trip to the World Minis possible.

Brown heads to Mesquite, Nevada, to compete at the 39th annual NMA (National Motosport Association) World Mini Grand Prix (WMG) April 12-18. The World Minis is one of the biggest races in the nation, and the Mesquite MX Park boasts great terrain, dirt and facilities and will be highlighted by a new Special World Mini Prix Motocross course.

WMG Prix has always been a showplace for riders to demonstrate their talents, and Brown will compete as one of 40 riders from all over the nation.

Cameron hopes to place in the top 15, and plans to continue to race through high school and eventually turn pro.

"To go pro I have to finish in the top three in the amateur races. If I continue on the path I am now I will be able to go pro - unless injuries hold me back, which is very likely to happen," Brown said with a

smile.
